Took Stef and the girls for a cruise today in the land yacht, ('00 Ford Windstar), up the Natchez Trace to a place called Little Mountian. It's one of the highest natural points in Mississippi, (about 603ft. above sea level--hey, this IS Mississippi I'm talking about, down here that IS a mountian!). The "mountian" is located inside Jeff Busby National Park (who, btw, was the fellow that pushed for the Natchez Trace project and got it up and running back in the 1930's). Now, here comes the MOTORCYCLE RELATED part. Jeff Busby N.P. is the ONLY place you will find a gas station located on Trace property. The rest of them are in the towns that the Trace passes near as it winds from Nashville, TN. to Natchez, MS. When we pulled into the park, there were about eight motorcycles at the pumps filling up. Seven HD's, and one Honda Pacific Coast. They had a good mix of HD's--Heritage Softail's, Sporty's, Dyna's, Road King's, etc.

Well, one fellow on a BEATUIFUL Dyna Wide Glide was carefully topping off his tank, being careful not to let a single drop hit his SWEET paint job. After he hangs up the nozzle, and carefully replaces the gascap, he decides to answer Nature's Call and heads to the restroom. While in there, a Park Ranger comes out of the store and asks several of the guys standing around where the rider of the Dyna is. They tell him and ask why. 'Bout this time, Dude comes out of the restroom and sees the Ranger standing next to his scoot and he gets the "Oh sh!t, what did I do now!" look in his eyes. The Ranger looks up at him and asks, "This here your bike?" Dude says, "Uh-huh. Is there a problem officer?" Ranger says, "No, not if your Hog runs on diesel". Dude looks at the officer, then the bike, then the pump, and then the ground as if he is gonna puke. There, on the side of the pump, in BIG letters is the word "DIESEL".

After his buddies got done whooping and hollering at his situation, they grabbed some empty jugs from a dumpster and pushed his bike over to the side of the parking lot and begin to drain the tank. Before doing so, they got permision from the Ranger, (remember, they WERE on Trace property), who was kind enough to take a photo for their scrapbook of Dude posing by the pump, holding the diesel nozzle in his tank, with a sh!t eating grin all over his face.

So, the moral of this story is: Check those pumps!
